Denmark: Roskilde Cathedral
Roskilde Cathedral is the most important cathedral in Denmark and a UNESCO World Heritage site – 40 Danish kings and queens are entombed inside! The construction of the cathedral began in 1170 and took nearly a century to complete a soaring Gothic masterpiece, one of the first example of brick Gothic architecture in Scandinavia. Sadly, the cathedral was closed when we arrived.
