Iceland: Krafla Volcanic Caldera

Krafla Volcanic Caldera is a spectacular geothermal area in the northern Iceland and sees much less visitors then the southern sites. It’s absolutely stunning in its diversity of attractions – endless panoramas of snowy mountains and glaciers, bubbling mud pools, steaming massive fumaroles, old black lava flows, sparkling sulfur crystals, and much more. The Viti crater and the green lake inside of it are particularly picturesque. Krafla has erupted 29 times throughout the history.
