Crima: Foros – Church of Christ’s Resurrection

This small church might just be the most spectacularly situated church in the world. It stands on high cliff above a vertical drop off down to the Black Sea and the town of Scotia on one side and beneath an equally vertical wall up to the Crimean Mountains on the other side. Just stunning! The church was consecrated in 1892 and Nicholas II, the Russian tzar, was in attendance. A twisting road leads up to the church, but there are very few overlooks to photograph the church. Once at the church grounds, you get absolute surreal views over the whole coast, just don’t get vertigo.
