Rwanda: Driving through East Rwanda

People usually rush to the western Rwanda to see gorillas (on an overpriced and over-organized tour), but we though to explore the less-visited eastern part of the country and headed to Akagera National Park via a self-drive. Along the way, we descended from Kigali and highlands and into the fertile river valley with a lot or agriculture (mostly rice) fields and picturesque hilly landscape. Rwanda has no natural resources besides very fertile land and the entire country is based on subsistence agriculture which contributes over a third of GDP.
