Country Page: Lebanon
Lebanon gets a bad rep in the new media – terrorist attacks, Hezbollah, lack of safety. The reality is quite different – welcoming people, great cafes and restaurant, fantastic sightseeing and immense amount of historical sights. Beirut has a downtown replete with ancient religious sights packed close to each other – churches, mosques, roman ruins all jammed together. Next to this is an atmospheric city center and further out is the promenade. Drive further up the coast and visit the UNESCO listed ruin sights, take the cable car up into the coastal mountains, and go deep underground at the famous Jeita Grotto caverns.
